Understanding Supplements: What They Are, How They Work, and Why Delivery Matters

December 8, 2025 By The Factory Team

We’ve received a lot of great feedback from our community asking for a deeper dive into supplements—what they do, how they’re absorbed, and when different delivery methods might make sense. Before we go further, it’s important to clarify something we always stand by: we’re not medical doctors, and this isn’t meant to serve as a blanket recommendation. Supplementation is highly individual. Your needs depend on your biology, your lifestyle, your habits, and often your bloodwork. Think of this more as a guide to help you ask better questions and make informed choices.

With that said, there are meaningful differences in how supplements are delivered into the body, and those differences can impact absorption, effectiveness, and convenience. Two of the most common routes are oral supplementation and IV therapy.

Oral Supplementation: The Most Familiar Route
For most people, supplements come in the form of powders, capsules, or liquids. These pass through the digestive system, where varying degrees of absorption occur. This is where formulation really matters—some nutrients absorb beautifully through the gut, while others struggle.

This is also where the specific type of supplement—protein, creatine, greens, daily vitamins, antioxidants, etc.—makes a big difference in what delivery method makes sense.

High-Quality Powders for Everyday Performance: Magnum
Because so many of our members use powders around their workouts or as part of their daily routine, we love offering Magnum products. These provide a solid foundation for performance, strength, and recovery:

• Protein Powder
Supports muscle repair, lean mass development, and satiety. Powdered protein remains one of the most effective, convenient, and well-absorbed oral supplements available. It’s an easy way to support recovery post-workout or add balanced nutrition to meals and snacks.

• Creatine
Creatine monohydrate in powdered form is one of the most researched and effective supplements in existence. Oral creatine absorbs extremely well and supports strength output, endurance, cognitive performance, and cellular energy availability.

• Greens Powders
While greens powders don’t replace vegetables, they offer concentrated phytonutrients, antioxidants, and digestive-support ingredients. They’re a great tool for supporting micronutrient intake—especially during busy seasons or travel.

• Pre-Workout
Designed to enhance focus, blood flow, and energy during training. Powdered pre-workouts absorb efficiently and can elevate performance when used intentionally and appropriately.

Magnum powders shine because they offer consistent absorption, flexible dosing, and easy integration into daily life. They’re ideal for ongoing, foundational support—not acute or clinical interventions.

Why We’re Also Fans of Rho: Liposomal Delivery for Hard-to-Absorb Nutrients
Some nutrients don’t fare as well through the digestive system. They degrade quickly, lose potency in stomach acid, or struggle to cross cell membranes.

This is where liposomal technology, like what Rho uses, becomes valuable. Liposomes are tiny fat-based spheres that protect the nutrient and enhance absorption. This delivery system is especially helpful for:

• Vitamin C
• Glutathione
• Curcumin
• Resveratrol
• NAD+ precursors
• Certain antioxidants and longevity-focused ingredients

The result is a supplement your body can use more efficiently—even in smaller doses.

IV Therapy: Direct Absorption When Needed
When nutrients bypass the digestive system entirely and enter the bloodstream directly, absorption approaches 100%. IV therapy is typically chosen when:

• someone has malabsorption issues
• higher therapeutic doses are needed
• rapid repletion is desired
• a medical provider recommends targeted support

While IV therapy is powerful, it’s not necessary for everyday supplementation. Most people do great with a combination of well-formulated oral supplements.

A Quick Review of Common Supplements and Why People Use Them

Vitamin D3 + K2
Supports immunity, bone density, mood, and hormone balance. K2 ensures calcium is transported effectively in the body.

Vitamin C
Boosts immune resilience, collagen production, and antioxidant defense. Liposomal forms greatly enhance absorption.

Collagen
Supports connective tissue strength, joint health, and skin elasticity. A smart complement to strength training.

Creatine
Enhances strength, power, endurance, cognitive performance, and cellular energy. Powdered creatine (like Magnum’s) is highly effective.

Glutathione
A master antioxidant that supports detoxification, recovery, and immune health. Best absorbed via liposomal or IV delivery.

Magnesium
Supports muscle relaxation, sleep quality, stress regulation, and energy production. Different forms serve different purposes—such as glycinate for sleep and threonate for cognitive function.

Curcumin + Resveratrol
A potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant combination that supports joint health, cellular repair, and longevity pathways. Liposomal delivery significantly improves bioavailability.

NAD+
Essential for cellular energy, metabolism, and DNA repair. Levels naturally decline with age, making supplementation—especially liposomal or IV—popular for vitality and recovery.

Matching the Supplement to the Delivery Method
Here’s the big takeaway:
Different supplements require different delivery systems to be effective.

Powders (like Magnum) shine for:
• protein
• creatine
• greens
• pre-workout
• collagen
• many vitamins and minerals

Liposomal formulations (like Rho) shine for:
• antioxidants
• anti-inflammatory compounds
• longevity-focused ingredients
• nutrients with poor gut absorption

IV therapy shines for:
• acute needs
• provider-directed therapeutic dosing
• compromised gut absorption

There is no single “best” supplement or delivery method—only what aligns with your physiology, your goals, and your season of life.

Supplementation Should Be Intentional, Not Impulsive
Supplements aren’t shortcuts and they’re not replacements for sleep, nutrition, or consistent training. But when used intentionally—with the right delivery method—they can absolutely elevate recovery, performance, mood, immune health, and longevity.
